Actually it's Aladdin, not the Mouse. This Disney press release talks about new chess software for kids. There is an "Aladdin-themed Adventure mode" and you can play against another person or the computer. No mention of online play. This might make for stiff competition for ChessBase's acclaimed Fritz and Chesster title. On the other hand, too often do software companies know far more about cool graphics than about teaching chess.
I haven't seen the Disney game, but I have to say that my kids really love Fritz and Chesster. Sure it's fun and nicely animated but the lessons are great and they really know how to keep the kids motived as they go through them.
I gave Fritz and Chesster to my nephew for his recent birthday, and I just heard today that he *loves* it! Actualy, when I read about the whole Disney thing with Aladdin I let out a big groan. F&C has been getting a lot of very favorable mainstream press lately, and it's just like the "Evil Empire" to rush to squash anyone else having some success "dealing" to the kids on their world-wide playground.
Please, support a company dedicated to chess, and buy Fritz and Chesster from Chessbase instead.
