The annual supertournament begins February 16 - March 11. There's a break between the first half in Morelia, Mexico and the second half in Linares, Spain. The players are Topalov, Anand, Leko, Svidler, Aronian, Radjabov, Morozevich, and Carlsen. (Yay, eight players.) The slow-motion official site is www.ajedrezmorelialinares.org.mx. I'm all for the kids, but it's a little disappointing to see Carlsen there instead of, say, Ivanchuk or Polgar (or, or, or). Carlsen went a winless -4 at Corus but of course was invited to Linares well in advance of that. More soon, been busy lately doing things like getting married yesterday.
Congratulations!!!!
Congratulations and best wishes to both of you!
Susan Polgar
Conrats, Mig. Who's the lukcy girl?
:-)
Congratulations, Mig!
This does seem to be the season for weddings in our little world -- first Kramnik, now you. Who will be next?
Best wishes :)
Mig,
Congratulations! I have my 30th wedding anniversery coming up in April, so I feel qualified to say this: The first year of marriage is the hardest, and after that they just get harder. Oops, here comes my wife, gotta go. ;-)
Congrats, Mig!
Many congratulations Mig. I'm impressed that you're blogging again a day after your marriage. Now that's commitment!
Thanks all. Her name is Zoë and she's a left-handed redhead. I'm not keen on sharing her with you rabble but she's appeared in these pages before, even posting a little when I was traveling.

Good heavens, Mig, you've been mated!
Congrats!!!
Wow, that's a news! Congratulations.
One advice from the one who has sufferred similar fate -- do not try to understand women, just do what makes them happy! Do as they want is the easiest formula, I've tried everything else, it doesn't work. Just go with the flow, it may be hard at times, but it's easier than fighting it...
Good luck!
D.
I wonder if a great blogger is handicapped now. We´ll see :)
Kramnik and now Mig... So many hearts broken!
;-))
Best wishes!!!
Mig, I know what you mean about Carlsen, but on the other hand, it's good that he's getting these "lessons" now. Due to his prodigious talent, I think it's been relativly easy for him up to this point in his "career." Now, the rubber meets the road so-to-speak, and should prove viable (win or lose) to his future progress
Dissapointed that Carlsen was invited? Wasnt it just one tournament ago you were so excited that Carlsen finally gets some top level competition?
I guess one tournament is enough for the mig-o-meter.
Grats on the marriage :-)
Even before his poor Corus result, Carlsen was in no way worthy of an invite to Linares. Corus is a little different, with the much larger field, it is not so harmful for the tournament to give him a chance.
What's her rating Mig? (Just kidding!)
Congratulations!!! I've been married for almost three years
and it's been the happiest time of my life.
Wow, I check back on this cheating business and here comes the real shocker :-) All the best to Mig & this Zoë gal :-)
congrats mig.
now the important question: why isn't kramnik playing linares? honeymoon?
Congrats, and best wishes to you both!
Mig, congratulations and best of wishes to you and your wife!
I don't post much, but I enjoy your blog very much. I myself remarried last June, and couldn't be happier!
I am surprised Greg Koster is not trolling blaming Kasparov for your marriage.
Congratulations / Condolences.
Mazel Tov on the nuptials! She’s too good for you, I'm sure.
Mig, congrats all the way around. Is she a chessplayer? How'd you meet? If you shared a picture, share the 411.
While it's probably true that Carlsen is still a little wet behind the ears to play in Linares (will be the prügelknabe for sure), let's be fair: He earned his way to the A group in Corus by co-winning group B last year.
(Technically, he came in marginally second, but it was counted as a co-win and it probably wasn't a very tough decision for the organizers to invite both Motylev and Carlsen to this year's A group.)
Seems that everyone's interest in Carlsen has cooled considerably. Has he done something rude or something? Besides having a too-high-for-his-abilities rating?
A Bride, good luck. My only advice, if you're going to play chess all night, hide the glue.
Certainly not me. But congratulations either way!
congratulations Mig!!
so, how'd ya propose? ;)
not to be a spoilsport, but I've seen some grainy footage of the wedding ceremony. sorry to tell you this but the woman's fingers are clearly crossed behind her back when she says "I do". She also seemed to be signalling the best man...

Mig I saw the report over at Susan Polgar's blog spot. She got the news out before you. LOL.
Someone there reports that Zoe has extraced a promise from you not to cover all the hot chess chicks around the world. Chess will not be the same without your batchelor pictorial reports on the pleasant gender in chess.
In Hungery there is a report that you intend to have 3 boys and you will train them to be chess superstars better than the Polgars. That your marriage was simply an experiment in children chess development all done in the interest of scientific chess advancement.
Hope to see some cute Red Headed Migs running around at the local chess tournaments. Well better red headed than bald. LOL.
Mig I remember my wedding day. As my bride and I walked together down the church isle to leave the church after the ceremony. My wife wispered in my ear. "Things are going to be different around here from now on." Life was never the same.
Well I have to finally agree with Dimi. Right on Mate. Now if Dimi will only agree to become a Kramnik fan I will really be happy.

Congratulations to both of you (assuming you only married one person). Lang may your lum reek (as long as you do some carbon offsetting).
There were lots of cheesy quotes flying around at my wedding(and one or two chessy ones) but 16 months on, one quote that strikes me as worthwhile(for both parties) is by Ogden Nash:
"To keep your marriage brimming with love in the wedding cup, whenever you're wrong, admit it; whenever you are right, shut up.'
Good luck with the ikea shopping and the questions about babies.
Jonathan.
Now listen to a good advice:
If you want to be happy, do not marry.
Only marry if you want to make the other person happy.
That is great, Mig! Mazel Tov. Wishing you and your wife all the happiness in the world.
The divine Ms Tyrious, I presume. Congratulations.
Congratulations to both Mig and Zoe! :-)
Congratulations on your Marriage, on the record! She may be a quantum superposition of the Red Queen and a Kitten, but you won't want it any other way. All the best in your Wonderland!
Congrats, Mig!
Congratulations to you and your wife. All the happiness in the world!
A big Mazel Tov to you and Zoë. You waited a long time for the right one to come along. I'm so happy for you.
Wonder if she'll make an honest man out of ya... ;)
Sincere and hearty congratulations to you both. May you have a long and adventurous life together.
Congrats, Mig! You got the easy part done. Now comes the adventure. Godspeed!
Zoe
Congratulations. I have this deep seated feeling that you and Mig will have a wonderful happy and fun life together. And please do not be shy. Everyone wants to see more pictures of you and hear more about whatever you would like to talk about. We have to listen to Mig all the time. I want to hear more from you.
Mig, some guys have all the luck. Definitely Red Heads are the best. You lucky guy.
I am very happy for both of you.
Congratulations to the newlyweds and best pf luck, health and happiness!
Hi Mig,
Congrats and all the very best! You have been great for chess and hopefully you will still get the time for these columns after the first few days?! :)
Congratulations for both of you and your wife ;o)
no woman, no cry :) :(
Big congrats!
But for how long were you engaged before you proposed? I hear that new rules are discussed which bans early proposals unless a judge declares that the situation can only end in marriage, is this true?

Congratulations!
Congratulations Mig.
Wish you and Zoe long and happy life, with many childeren.
Married a redhead!
Congratulations to Mig and Zoe.
Now, is she a 1.e4 or 1.d4 player?
Congratulations to the new bride and groom. Best wishes to you both, Mig and Zoe. Hope you have a nice honeymoon planned.
Was Kasparov at your wedding? That would be cool.
Mig
My best wishes to you and Zoe. I know that everyone's been wishing you and dishing out advice but here's my two penn'orth anyway. Its by the poet Nash, actually - who said
To keep your marriage brimming
with love in the loving cup
When you are wrong, admit it
When you are right, shut up!
Worked for me, it did. Fifteen years now and she still hasn't run away with the mailman.
Mig, is the fact that Zoë is left handed significant in a way we should be aware about, since you made a point of mentioning it?! Are you left handed yourself? Hopefully you share other things in common too :)
Congratulations on the wedding. May you have many happy years together.
Ob. wedding joke: Why does the bride wear white and the groom wear black? For the bride, it's the last white day. For the groom, it's the first black day.
Congratulations!
I thought you were against such things!
Congratulations Mig ! Best wishes to you all !
I wondered what the "slow motion site" is about.
I understood when I opened up the link. Ups, .mx eh?
Carlsen may play better this time.
The line-up seems very strong.
Mig,
Congratulations to you and Zoe! Twenty-two years ago I was lucky enough to marry a left-handed redhead, and it's been a blast. Marriage is great, there's no better feeling than knowing that somebody's got your back...
Good Luck!
Wow, I misread, I thought Carlsen was getting married...
Still wow - Congratulations Mig!
Wow, Mig listening to Mom? Congrats!
Congratulations, Zoe and Mig! May your marriage be long and happy.
Congratulations!
My take on the left handed issue: It's a good thing for a right handed chessplayer to marry a left handed one, start the marriage by both beeing happy about where the clock stands...
Q
Mig is the man! I wish you all the best. Have you told GK there is someone else?
By the way, let it be said that I expect a categorical leap from Carlsen in this tournament to signal to the world that Tal Memorial and Corus were just flukes. At least Morozevich may become a "regular customer".
Mig:
Congratulations to you and your lovely bride!
You have 45 years of marriage before you two catch up to my wife and me. And she still wonders why I push those wooden pawns and pieces all over the board for hour after hour, day after day, year after year, - - -
Rich in Phoenix
Congratulations to you both!
Welcome to the world of Chess celebrity, where if. Have one off event, you are yesterdayks darling
Seems that everyone's interest in
Carlsen has cooled considerably. Has he done something rude or something? Besides having a too-high-for-his-abilities rating?
Hey !
What would happen if Mrs. Mig forces Mig to close down chessninja ?
Better late than never: congratulations from Amsterdam and a happy marriage to you both!
Peter Doggers
Another mating attack gone awry...
Now we know how Kramnik felt: we didn't see that mate coming either!
Seriously, though, ALL THE BEST to both of you (& any upcoming Miglets...). Congrats!
- Rich F.
Dear Mig
Congratulations to you and Zoe!! Wish you both a happy married life
Congratulations ! to you Mig . Best wishes to you both for a very happy n prosperous life !
A thought re: your marriage: you may find yourself "j'adoubing" your decisions a lot...!
Congrats with the wedding. Many years for the both of you...
Does this mean Skripchenko can't pull your ears any more?
Well, I guess that Magnus Carlsen has proved that he belongs in Morelia / Linares 2007?
What an arrogant thing to say:
> I'm all for the kids, but it's a
> little disappointing to see Carlsen there
Not only is the young Norwegian an extremely much better player than you are; he has also demonstrated very well that at a good day he can be among the best!
A writer like you should encourage young talents, you should push them down. His age is something that is unique for a player at this strength; it is not something you should use as ironi against him!
Please be ashamed!
Mig is not known for writing encouraging stuff. He is known for a sarcastic sense of humour. Of course, he might change now - he has a wife now.
ashamed my fanny. Mig should call it as he see's it. This is an opinionated blog for adults, not the monthly junior chess booster gazette ( not that there's anything wrong with that sort of publication ). Good job on chess.fm Mig; I've finally heard a few episodes and love it. Wouldn't it be fun some time to work a round or two with Yermo?

Eat your words
It's a little late to start "predicting" Carlsen's good result in Morelia.
